The secret is freshly baked monaka

Sandwiching moist AZUKI paste between freshly baked, fragrant monaka wafers—the flavor afforded by this was long known to only confectionery artisans.
It was in 1983 that we developed a confection to convey this flavor.

This confection is divided into two packages; sandwich the AZUKI paste with the monaka wafers just before enjoying.
The delicious surprise of the moment when the wafers and the AZUKI paste meet was an immediate hit with customers. Fukumitenbin remains a staple TANEYA confection to this day thanks to this.

Ingredients

The fragrant monaka wafers are made with Shiga Habutae-mochi rice from the rice-growing region of Omi. They are paired with AZUKI paste made with AZUKI from Hokkaido as a wish to ward off evil.
And enveloped in the AZUKI paste is fukumi mochi, made from a bountiful harvest.
